Wind

Wind turbines usually produce a wild (variable) 3 phase alternating current (AC) which is proportional to the RPM of the rotor.  Depending on whether the wind turbine is being used in an off-grid or grid-connected system.  The power may be converted to DC for battery charging, or into AC for synchronization and connection to the power grid.

Wind energy is usually selected for sites that require a more substantial amount of power, such as larger cottages, small full-time or summer homes/businesses.

To install a wind turbine, it is advised that a good wind site is selected with plenty of space for the lowering and raising of a tower.  Also depending on which tower is selected, the tower may be free-standing, or dependent on guy wires for support.

Unlike solar modules, there is some noise generated by the spinning of the blades.  Also routine maintenance is required due to the moving parts of the wind turbine.

Newfound Energies is proud to be the exclusive dealer of “Windspot” wind turbines for Newfoundland and Labrador.
